1 サンプルエッセイ
Topic:
What distinguishes young people from their parents’ or grandparents’ generation is a lack of physical exercise. Today’s generation are spending far too long playing computer games, chatting aimlessly on social networking sites or simply watching TV, and too little time being active. To what extent do you agree or disagree.
You should write at least 250 words.
Essay:
A myriad of captivating electronic games and social media are materializing in parallel with the advancement of technology. From my perspective. many children fall prey to these mercenary businesses and end up lacking in exercise. Having said that, some parents manage to prevent their offspring from developing gaming or social media disorders by enforcing rigorous time-limits on electronic platforms.
To begin with, it is almost impossible for children to voluntarily turn away from their favorite online games or social media. This is because these are designed to be as addictive as possible by game developers to generate immense profits for their companies. Indeed, the human nature of being curious about feedbacks is taken advantage of by the IT industry. To give you an example, having posted articles on Facebook, adolescents get excited to see how many Likes and comments they would receive. In extreme cases, they cannot look away from Facebook for more than a minute. As a result, they end up squandering time checking Facebook when they could be doing something physical.
Nevertheless, a portion of parents manage to protect their offspring from wasting their time in front of computers or smart phones by enforcing rigorous rules. Common successful rules are time- restriction on mobile devices and gaming consoles. Having exhausted the time-limit, modern youngsters enjoy outdoor activities as much as their parents used to. For instance, being forbidden to play any computer games on Sunday, some children would start exploring their neighborhood on bicycle or foot. Therefore, technology does not dominate some households that have a countermeasure against it.
To summarize, many children fall prey to addictive games and social media, and end up in spending a paucity of time performing physical activities. Having said that, this phenomenon is not representative of all children as some parents succeed in saving their children from a lack of exercise by setting strict rules on online entertainment.
