サンプルエッセイ
Topic:
Some people believe that the managers should make all the company decisions, others think it is better to include employees while making decisions. Discuss both the points and give your opinion.
You should write at least 250 words.
Essay:
The engagement of employees in corporate decision-making process is widely debated in many business enterprises. Some maintain that it affords a fulfilling working experience to eager personnel. However, I do not espouse the bottom-up approach as ordinary employees are less likely to enhance the quality of management-level discussions.
If management implemented suggestions from employees, it could elicit highly supportive reactions from workers. Employees feel a great deal of self-worth when their suggestions are adopted. This feeling could exceed the sense of accomplishment they gain from their routine tasks. For example, a salesperson at a confectionery company could commit to doubling his output in promoting products once the management alters the flavor of featured products based on his suggestions. Consequently, its revenue could be increased by his commitment.
On the other hand, it is doubtful that a bottom-up approach could enhance the quality of corporate decisions. This is because executives have the qualities required in drawing up strategies, such as intimate knowledge of the industry and corporate finances. Indeed, it is common that only a handful of exceptionally talented personnel are promoted to executives. Given that, it is unlikely that inexperienced colleagues could come up with suggestions that outsmart management. What is worse, in some cases, sessions with junior colleagues could end up as merely a burden for seniors in a gruelling schedule.
To summarize, the bottom-up approach could boost the motivation of employees. Nevertheless, the effectiveness of this approach is doubtful as management has more talent and experience. Therefore, corporate decisions must be entrusted to executives.
