Topic:
Some people believe that teaching children at home is best for a child’s development while others think it is important for them to go to school. Discuss the advantages of both methods and give your own opinion.
You should write at least 250 words.
Essay:
The best teaching method continues to be a controversial topic among parents. Some parents believe home schooling is preferable as tailored curriculums can be provided, while others argue that children must go to school to gain novel experiences. In my view, I agree with the latter as it allows children to develop their strength based on their decisions rather than that of their parents.
On the one hand, it is understandable that some parents want to control the academic curriculum in order to provide better educational opportunities for their offspring. In this context, homeschooling works well as all the classes are arranged by the desire of parents. Typically, more advanced courses are given to children compared to what they would learn if they were in public schools. This enables the rapid development of academic abilities and affords greater chances of enrolling in prestigious universities. To give you an example, it is possible to teach youngsters advanced mathematics, which most teenagers learn in secondary schools, at home.
On the other hand, one of the primary reasons for learning at school is exposure to novel experiences and social interaction. Indeed, children could go through a range of courses and activities with their classmates and teachers, whose values may differ from them and their families. This exposure is vital for children to learn new perspectives and to figure out their strengthes. For instance, a boy may realize his exceptional entertaining ability while joking with his friends, and in turn becomes a popular Youtuber. In contrast, it is unlikely that children would encounter serendipitous moments while homeschooling.
To summarize, homeschooling is supported by parents who have specific desires in the education of their offspring. However, I believe going to school is better as children can be exposed to various experiences and gain a sense of independence which allows them to think for themselves.
