Topic:
Some people think that cities are the best places to live. Others prefer to live in rural areas. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
You should write at least 250 words.
Essay:
A large number of urban dwellers believe city life is superior to rural one, whilst people in the countryside maintain that nothing can be valued more than traditional lifestyle in nature. This essay presents the arguments on both sides, and concludes in favor of rural life.
Looking first at the case supporting urban life; urban dwellers hold a view that a range of options are available in metropolitan cities, which enable them to realize their ideal lifestyles. This is prominent in job-hunting. Indeed, when job seekers register themselves on a platform of a recruiting agency, they will realize that an overwhelming majority of attractive opportunities are provided in big cities. Furthermore, population density makes it easy to find companionable friends who share the same hobbies. Even if a person has a minor hobby, they can meet a crowd of people who are into it. For example, there are many groups that enjoy dressing in costumes like comic characters in Tokyo. If a cosplayer lives in the middle of nowhere, they could hardly have any chance to hold a cosplay event.
Turning to the other side of the argument; rural dwellers tend to claim that solid human relationships in the countryside bring happiness. Indeed, they are more likely to cherish their neighbors and develop their relationships over decades. This is supported by a recent scientific discovery which stated long term relationships are an essential factor to promote happiness. Besides that, living life surrounded by an abundance of nature prevents people from developing lifestyle diseases, which significantly diminish the quality of life. This is because rural dwellers tend to walk or cycle longer distances, which amounts to sufficient daily exercise. Additionally, population scarcity has an advantage in terms of minimizing the detrimental outcomes caused by household wastes. It is often the case that retiring to the countryside dramatically improves the health of those who have worked in cities.
In conclusion, the choice is fundamentally between the conveniently enticing options in the cities versus healthy rural lifestyles including solid relationships with neighbors. I believe mental and physical health must come first, and strongly espouse the latter.
